"You're giving me a run for my money, honey..."

Bonjour mes amies, hope you are all having a supercallifragilsticexpiallidocious week (i'm looking for new adjectives as I think I use 'immense' far too much). I'm one month into my two month self-imposed shopping ban so, with officially one month left to go, I figured it was about time I gave you all an update on my progress.

You'd be SO proud of me darlings, I've done well. Like really, really well. I've surprised even myself. The withdrawl symptoms are all but gone and I want a lot less. I realise now that you can appreciate the beauty and awesomeness of something on the hanger in the shop and leave it at that, it doesn't make it any more beautiful once it's on a hanger in your wardrobe. It's made me be more creative with the combination of the lovely clothes I already have, forcing me to come up with new outfits.
That's not to say I don't still get cravings. Case in point, a few weeks ago when I (stupidly) went into H&M thinking that I could handle it. I wasn't prepared for how many pretty things I would see (and want). Here are just a few:

You all know j'adore wearing men's clothes and regularly buy and wear them and OMG.I.Want.That.Guy's.Blazer.SO.Badly!! (or a hot, stylish boyfriend who has it so I can steal it off him, either one is fine by me). They are all truly fabulous and I know where I'm headed once my ban is lifted!

Anyways darlings I probably should go and revise for my crucial A Level exams I have this summer (which will explain my erratic posting over the next month or so, i'm apologising in advance, bear with me). Hope you are all immense (I just can't help it, but I guess every good icon needs a catchphrase right? =P)

Stay safe and chic mes cheries,
English Rose x

  4. Stay strong, mon amie! I'm in exactly the same boat, trying to be sensible but a couple of weeks ago H&M almost ruined me...almost! I feel slightly smug as I (just about) dealt with temptation!

  7. Well done on sticking to your shopping ban.

I am just about to restart my shopping ban again. I previously had a four month shopping ban after Christmas. I found that I looked at the clothes I had in a new way when I did not have the opportunity to go and buy something new. I also found when I did lift the shopping ban I was really careful to buy clothes that I would get lots of wear out of.

  21. I'm proud you've stuck with your shopping ban! I've been on a few and I know it's not easy, but like you, I'm quite tight with how much I want to spend. I just see too many people in debt because they can't control their shopping habits and I do have other priorities. I actually find that the more pics of nice stuff I take for my blog, the less I feel the need to buy them, probably because I already 'own' them via the images I took ;-)

  30. Yay, congrats to you!!! That is awesome! I must admit that I have been spending like crazy this week (it is my first week of vacation and I guess I felt I "deserved it"). I also feel that being an active blogger makes me want to spend more because I am regularly exposed to so many beautiful things. That's why I hope to display that I reuse things more often.
How do you cope with being exposed to beautiful and stylish things on other blogs while still maintaining your shopping ban?

  36. I am so proud of you for sticking to your self-imposed shopping ban. I've recently set one up for myself; but...yeah, it's not going so well. I suppose visiting the Forever 21 website multiple times per day isn't helping much - oopsie!

Good luck on your exams, my love!! :)

  47. Congrats for making it two months! I make it a habit to save most of my money but buy only versatile pieces that I can over and over again. I've spent so much unnecessary money over the past few years when I wasn't sure about my style and I regretted that! But i still craved when I look at ASOS or go to the mall...I always end up buying somthing like lotion! I adore that sequin jacket...I would be so tempted to buy it!! xoxxoxoxoxo

  52. First, good luck with your A levels, sweetie, education is very important today. A shopping ban? I have an ernomous amount of self control, which helps me not to overspend. For example, I'll shop til dawn for a month or so and then no shopping for the following six months. Love the blazer and good on you for stiking to the shopping ban;-)
    Have a lovely Sunday!
